The Flipped Classroom is a new idea aimed at increasing learning and productivity in the classroom. The idea is that teachers create online lessons and videos for their students to learn at home and then spend their class time practicing and going over any issues the students might have with the material. It is called a "flipped classroom" because home becomes the place of initial learning and the class becomes a place to work out any kinks or confusion with the work.  Open Educational Resources (OER) are learning resources which are open to the public for anyone to use for whichever purpose they choose. These resources are made available to the public through different ways such as the "five 'r's' of OER." These five r's are: retain, reuse, revise, remix, and redistribute. Each R offers a different way that intellectual information can be shared freely on the internet. OER Commons is a place where intellectual resources are available to the pu...

Using Diigo, I learned about another way to interact with other people of similar interests in the technological world. I learned how to bookmark a website and save it to certain different groups. I learned how to highlight and make notes for myself on articles that I found interesting. Diigo can be useful in the classroom because it is a helpful space to keep track of certain articles teachers find interesting and useful for their subjects. It is also helpful for students who need a space to keep track of articles and websites they might need for certain classes or projects. Other than that, Diigo is another great space to interact and share thoughts and ideas with people around the world.  PowerPoint is a tool that can be used in so many different instances. It is mostly used in learning environments (aka: classrooms, meetings, lectures). One tool, called Bloom's Taxonomy, is an idea that is used to analyze the level of learning and understanding a student receives from cer...

ILP 2: EME2040

ILP 2: Digitech Some of the assignments we are required to complete in Educational Technology are called “independent learning projects,” or ILP’s for short. Over the course of the semester, students are asked to complete two ILP’s, choosing from the options of ‘participation,’ ‘design,’ and ‘tech tool box.’ The teacher also offered the option of visiting the Digitech event held in the Innovation Hub and writing about it and some of the items on display. I chose to visit the Innovation Hub and experience Digitech. Digitech is an event held by FSU which features an exhibition where students and faculty can come and experience many different kinds of technological tools. According to the Digitech website, this year was its eighth year of exhibiting new and exciting technologies. Today, when I visited the event, I saw a lot of very different types of technological tools. Some were classroom friendly, others had very different purposes, but they all were aimed at cre...

So far, my experience on twitter has not been the most exciting. I have not found my space with twitter yet, meaning I just do not like it. I usually forget to visit my twitter account, mostly because I do not have the app on my phone, and when I do remember I tend to become confused and get lost.  A couple of weeks ago, we had an assignment in EME2040 that asked us to create a web page for a fictional class. I chose to create a website for a fourth grade class. I included a school calendar, a class calendar, blog posts/class announcements, and links to other educational websites. I liked using weebly to create my website. Although I felt the work was tedious, I enjoyed the ease of creating a site on a page with a helpful template.  Next time, I will try to make the font easier to read. I noticed that the first page of the website is tricky to read because the background and the white font clashes. I will definitely use websites like this in the future when I am a teacher,...
